How to submit our newly developed website to the search engines? Especially Google?

I have developed this new wesbite for my own business and need more people to visit the same. Can anybody guide how to start the process of marketing this.
FYI, this is a regional specific website and helps me a lot when localites view the same. Is there any special way for doing this?
When i ask my website developer, they charge me a huge sum for SEO.
Kindly help

   hey there,

   submitting your website at Google and all other search engines is easy and free. Check here for step by step details

   Note that for submission at Yahoo you might be asked to have an account with them
   To get better local traffic you should first make sure you have posted somewhere on your site the address and area you are offering your services. You could also improve this by submitting a geo sitemap, but this is done after regular submission.

   and if u want to promote u r website u need to do some seo work submissions to various free directories ,go for blogs,forums,articles….which can bring u some good results for free

   I can help you with that provided that i charge a minimal amount. Also it takes months to have your website in top ten. there is no short cut. If i use a black hat method surely it will be banned. Please be reminded that using methods that are no good will have a consequence later on.
