Is Yahoo going to release a new desktop search or have they given up on that?
ScottD_Arch asked: I’ve been trying to see if yahoo has a desktop search to accompany their excellent widget engine. To date, what I can piece together, is that they partnered with “x1″ to release a beta “yahoo YDS” in 2005 but that the beta expired and no product was released. What I can’t figure is if this was because of Vista and YDS is simply delayed or if Yahoo has ceded the desktop search market to google.

How do you make immediate cash via the Internet, on a low budget?
doc asked: So far, there is only ONE thing that resulted in sales, and it did not cost me even one penny. That is AFFILIATE MARKETING via FFA search engine submissions.
I received checks for three sales generated through Free-For-All web site submissions. How can I intentionally duplicate these results geometrically by about a factor of 10, 100, or 1,000?
FYI, I’m a very experienced salesperson, with an excellent web site. It’s new, so it’s in the Google sandbox. And yes, it only has about 400 links. Therefore, let’s not discuss SEO or anything that’s related to long-term LINKS or LINKING strategy here. My question is STRICTLY about making IMMEDIATE SALES via the web. (I also own excellent weight loss e-book products and offer online training programs because I am a Certified Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant.)
I already did PPC, YSM, expired domain traffic, and eBay auctions. All these fail, cost me cash, with no sale or inquiry, just seller fees to pay these vendors.

John, GIA Diamond Professional asked: When I started my business almost 7 years ago I was all over the Internet and my hits were really high. But over the years the market place for jewelry websites has exploded and now I find myself challenged to getting listed anywhere on google and the pay-for-click business is out of control. My costs have skyrocketed, but my hits have gone way done.
What are some other ways to generate quality traffic and increase google page ranking. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so I know the obvious SEO answers… I need real creativity.
Thanks!

awrhodes84 asked: I don’t work for Yahoo! or have any tangible stake in the company, however, everyone is always talking about ‘Googling’ this or that and I don’t understand why. Google’s homepage is devoid of any information or services that would make me even consider using it as a search engine. When I come to Yahoo’s home page, it knows who I am, tells me I have new mail, shows me the news, and provides me with feature stories among other things. Furthermore, Yahoo and Google both take the same amount of time to load. On a personal note, I think Google looks like a novice high schooler designed it, while Yahoo could do without the shameless amount of advertising on its home and My Yahoo pages.
Further confusing me is that Yahoo is the most visited domain on the internet, yet Google controls over 60% of the search engine market. Are people actually using Yahoo for its services and then going to Google to search? I really don’t get it…
